We spent 4 weeks at the Duck nest for a wonderful and unforgettable stay in SF. We were four adult people (parents, two daughters). We fully confirm all the compliments of our predecessors and we had everything we needed for our quite prolonged stay. The apartment is cozy and functional, well located at the edge of the Golden Park (5 minute walk to the main museum), the area is quiet and lovely, and we used the bus 5 at the street corner which was very convenient to reach all the sites of interest of the city. We could also appreciate the kindness and availability of Rob for all his valuable advises, especially when our oldest daughter needed urgent dentist care (!). We highly recommend the Duck nest to everyone who would like to visit SF and the area. Special thank you also to our successors (former renters) approached by Rob, who have kindly accepted to move their booking in order to let us extend our stay in California.
We stay for days in this very beautiful house. Everything is perfect and the owner was very fantastic with us! If we will come back in San Francisco we hope we can come back here, in this fantastic house to meet again the fantastic owners!
We stayed at Ducks Nest for a month and could not have been happier. Everything was as described. The hosts were such good people, prompt with information, easy to get hold of in case of issues and very responsive to requests. The location is in a nice neighborhood, 2 blocks from GG Park and close to wonderful restaurants. We really felt we were living in a neighborhood home and not in a touristy part of town at all. We will definitely be back.
We just spent a number of nights at this wonderful home. We needed 3 separate sleeping spaces and although this is a two bedroom there is a cozy daybed in the dining room, which can be closed off for privacy. The house is spotless! At every turn there are dining guides, instructions for use of the washer/dryer (so convenient), the Internet, TV, and a guest book. There are travel books and every household/personal need was easily satisfied. There are thick white towels, robes and toiletries! Actually no need to bring your hair dryer or shampoo it's all there! We arrived a few hours early and my son in law was really feeling sick. No problem, Rob gave us early access! Oh and there is a garage, but you are only a block from the Golden Gate Park! Enjoy your stay!
We are frequent VRBO stayers and rely heavily on reviews, so we were careful on this. Background - we came to SF to be there for our first grandchild and needed a pet friendly place with two bedrooms and close to the Western Addition. We have absolutely no criticisms of the Duck's Nest and the owners. Some of the great (and not all) things we found included: a well prepared / stocked home down to unbelievable detail, everything worked, we had a garage (and parking in front), great access to Golden Gate park, enough room to watch sports events / movies in the living room for (6) plus pets, very comfortable beds, a great laundry room, kitchen and back yard. Finally Lisa, Diana and Rob Duca were great hosts / owners!! It was simply perfect for us! BTW, we had a healthy grandson!
Our first visit to San Francisco was easy and enjoyable thanks to finding The Duck's Nest on VRBO. We spent a week there with our 23-year old son, and the spacious flat was so much better than staying in a cramped hotel room. It had everything we needed and wanted, so we felt like we were coming home after each long day of sightseeing. The one thing I should mention is there are a lot of steep stairs to get inside, so if you have much luggage or can't do stairs, then this might be a problem. Otherwise, it is easy access to the grocery store and bus stops and Golden Gate Park. Other added bonuses are the comfortable beds, nice shower and good WIFI....three things we always look for in a rental! Thanks to Rob for doing a great job communicating before, during and after our stay as well....we really appreciated it!!
I believe anyone would love the opportunity that this property and its location offers. The residence is comfortable and clean, has easy access to shopping and restaurants, a walk in the park, and has mass transit to every corner of the city. We rented a vehicle and had a garage to park in which parking is premium. The best part of this property is the owners who see to your every need. Loved it!
This home is the best vacation rental we've ever stayed in, and we've stayed at several. Great home, great location, and great owner! Clean, super comfy beds, and walking distance to groceries and restaurants. We were grandparents with 3 kids ages 7-14, and it was the perfect location. We enjoyed the golden gate park, Academy of science, and hop on hop off bus. Really great place!
We spent four nights at the Duck's Nest at the beginning of a two week California trip, and it really couldn't have been better. The property is clean, comfortable, spacious, homely, and astonishingly well-equipped - it has everything you need, including lots of things you didn't really think about, but Rob did, so when you realize you need it, it's there. The neighborhood is great, with the park literally at the end of the street, a supermarket 5 minutes away, and easy transport connections to everywhere. We were also lucky enough to meet Rob on our last day, and he's a lovely guy, and gave us some great advice on the drive down to Monterey.
Our family of four (including two college age sons) stayed at the Duck's Nest in March. It was so comfortable and convenient. Rob and family thought of everything! (from the big screen TV with surround sound, coffee and champagne, to extra toiletries and laundry supplies) We purchased Muni passes for the first half of the week and easily got around the city by bus and cable car. We rented a car from the nearby Enterprise location later in the week to get out on day trips and so appreciated the garage included with the Nest. Lastly, we were very pleased with the strong WIFI signal (a huge plus with our boys) and the availability of a computer and printer - nice for printing local maps and boarding passes on the day of our departure. Rob was wonderful to work with from the moment we sent our initial inquiry, and we were fortunate enough to meet him as we departed. Thanks for sharing your lovely home and for your genuine hospitality, Rob!
We have stayed at many rentals. This was at the top of the list. Rob was so great with communication and everywhere we turned we found little extras that made our stay so much better. Little notes offering us this or that, even new toothbrushes if we forgot ours! Lots of coffee, spices, even wine! A piece of history close to golden gate park. Lots of maps and guide books too!
The Ducks Neat is a beautifully appointed, historical home 1/2 a block from Golden Gate Park. This home has everything! And the owners are very hands on with instructions, assistance and tips. The house is large by SF standards and nicely decorated. The beds are very comfy! There is a garage for a midsize car, which makes parking a dream! So many restaurants and sights very close. Golden Gate Park is the most wonderful park in the world! Museums, lakes, botanical gardens, and beautiful flora and fauna.
The "Duck's Nest" was the perfect place to begin our San Francisco adventure. Communication with Rob before, during and after the rental was warm and easy - we felt like we were old friends before we even arrived. The rental is spacious, inviting, and full of personality and stocked with everything you might want or need - there was even a bottle of champagne to greet us upon our arrival. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the decor is charming (loved having the warm glow of the Christmas tree in the window as we arrived - thank you!) The location is perfect - we decided not to rent a car until the day we left for Sonoma, and were never once disappointed with our decision. Golden Gate Park is just a few blocks away, as are wonderful neighborhood restaurants and a fabulous grocery store. Public transportation is a breeze. We heartily recommend getting a City PASS if you are in town for a few days -it will make your lives so much easier! Go to the museums, hop the boat to Alcatraz, walk the bridge, ride the cable cars as many times as you can and then return to your cozy nest for a restful night before you begin the next day's adventures. We recommend The Duck's Nest without reservation and would gladly fly in here again and again!
We are a family of 5 from Australia and found the Duck's Nest to be the perfect place to stay. The moment we walked in we fell in love with the property, from the welcome bottle of wine to the magnificent timber work throughout the home. Everything we needed was there at our fingertips. We were close to shops and transport and the wonderful Golden Gate Park. We would have loved to stay longer and if we ever make it back to the U.S. we will definitely stay here again. On the morning we left we met Rob, what a nice guy. We had a good chat and it felt like we had known him forever.
We are a family of 5 with three girls ages 14,11, and 7. The nest was a perfect place for our family to call home for the week. It was very well provisioned, the best of any VRBO unit we've stayed in, and very clean. The location was unbeatable as well. Every morning started with a run in the park followed up with a coffee from the Cafe less than a block away! We debated on using Uber and public transportation or renting a car and we went with a small car. The garage underneath the building was priceless and this allowed us to come and go without having to worry about parking. We are already talking about when we can come back, and we will be staying at the Duck's Nest again!
This rental experience has been great from day one. Normally when you search for a place to stay while on vacation, you have to be very certain that you choose the right place. And the process often begins with how you communicate with the owner. Our communication with Rob was like talking to another family member, it was like we had known each other for a long time. Which again gives you a sense of security. Add to that all the other great reviews, then this was our number one choice of the listings in San Francisco. And it was really great. A very charming apartment with all the amenities you could ever need, and then some. It doesn't give you the feel of a hotel room, it gives you the feeling of a cozy home away from home. Which was very relaxing when coming home from long days of sightseeing. The beds were very comfortable, and the heater/AC was much appreciated. We even lit the fireplace one evening, just adding to the coziness of the place. Parking was no issue, since we could park in the garage. We rented a small car, as it made parking in the garage, and in San Francisco generally, much easier. That said, there were a lot of parking lots and garages around the most important sights, and we truly found it much more easy traveling by car than by public transport. The home is within walking distance of good restaurants, grocery stores and a great park. If you read this review, it means that you don't have to search any longer for a place to stay in San Francisco. Thanks again Rob for your great service! Robin, Toril and Malin Victoria Hougen
Our family of 4 adults met at the Duck's Nest for 4 days of fun in San Francisco. This apartment was GREAT - one of our best VRBO experiences. It is charming, comfortable and clean. The location is excellent - we spent quite a bit of time exploring Golden Gate Park. We were able to pick up the light rail to get to AT and T park for a Giants game. We spent hours out in the city, and were so happy to come back to the Duck's Nest at the end of the day. The apartment is very well supplied with all the little things to make life enjoyable - travel mugs, wine glasses, nice towels, extra shampoo, etc. There is a wealth of information in the apartment regarding the neighborhood and the city. We had a great time! I highly recommend this apartment! Thanks Rob!
Our son graduated from Academy of Art University and our family joined us for the weekend to attend his graduation and have a mini family reunion. The rental was perfect because it was close to our friends home which some of us were staying at. We cannot say enough about the beautiful home, it's location next to Golden Gate Park, and the how wonderful the owner is. He has every item needed/wanted in the home, which is extremely well maintained and clean. Having the garage to park the car in is also perfect. Parked it and used Uber or Lyft or walked. Our experience was 5 star!!
We are a family of five, 5 year old twins and a 3 year old. The convenience of walking literally less than five to ten minutes to GGP to playgrounds were priceless for us! Rob, the owner, is as professional as it gets but he's even better because of his sincere hospitality. Walking distance to museums and restaurants make the location perfect for anyone. The house itself is spacious and cozy in the best way with comfortable beds and plenty of sitting areas. The kids especially loved the availability of soft toys and board games. The house was well stocked for all our necessities including the bathroom, kitchen and laundry. We highly recommend the Duck's Nest and would love to stay there again in the future if it's available! Thanks again!
We could not have been happier with our accommodations for our long-anticipated family vacation in one of our favorite cities. The Duck's Nest is an easy 25-minute ride from the airport, just a block from Golden Gate Park and the nearest Muni bus into downtown SF or to Ocean Beach, and situated in a neighborhood teeming with some of the city's best ethnic restaurants (not to mention an excellent independent books store). The flat, itself, sleeps 4-5 comfortably. (We have a 12-year-old and a 16-year-old. The 12-year-old was quite content for the week in the day bed nook in the dining room, as pictured). It's attractively appointed, with wood floors throughout, fireplaces in the living and master bedroom, overstuffed chairs and couches in the living area, and comfortable beds with plenty of pillows. The pictures on the website really do show what you can expect. It's absolutely as lovely as it looks, and it has all the amenities you want in a home-away-from home experience--roomy fridge, gas range, washer and dryer. Plus, Rob and Diana are only the most thoughtful hosts ever. SF guidebooks, maps, and DVDs abound, and notes throughout the flat anticipate every need. We hope to make it back some day.
At first I couldn't believe all the hype (every review is 5 stars). After our stay, though, I have to agree. The house is perfect, big enough to be comfortable for our family of 5 and located in a great part of town. Rob is a fantastic host who made us feel welcome and gave great tips for eating and sightseeing. The house is beautifully decorated with comfortable beds and is stocked with everything you might need including a mini office with computer and printer. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking and the laundry facilities were great. Having the garage was very convenient, although, you could get away without a car if you want to. There are many good restaurants and conveniences within walking distance and good access to public transportation. We have stayed in many rentals all over the world, but this one stands out far above the others for its total attention to detail and hospitality. I would love to go back anytime.
The hospitality from the owners was not only generous but thoughtful as well. The location was perfect and within walking distance to museums and restaurants. We are a family of 5, two teenage boys and a 10 year old girl. Each child had their own space and never felt crowded. I would highly recommend the Duck's Nest and would absolutely stay here again and again. Thank you Duca Family :0)
We really enjoyed our recent stay at the Duck's Nest. The flat was very comfortable, just like being at home. Rob and Diana have truly thought of everything that you may need. We really enjoyed the full kitchen and the memory foam bedding was fantastic! The neighborhood was great...1block to the Safeway store and 1 block to Golden Gate Park and the bus stop to downtown. Don't look any further for a rental. Rob is always available to answer questions and makes sure your stay is perfect 5+ stars!
My family of three, spent an absolutely wonderful four days at the "Nest". This was my first time staying in a home away from home (and not a hotel) and I had a completely worry-free booking/staying experience. The owner, Rob, was very attentive and thoughtful to our needs. He was truly treating us just as if we were his family. Not to repeat what everyone else has already written about how wonderful the house was prepared to accommodate their guests, which of course we all highly agree, we also found their "notes" placed around the house, very easy to follow, and very welcoming. We also want to thank the owner so much for the champagne and apple cider. How did you know sparkling apple cider was my daughter’s favorite? ;-) The Duck's Nest is conveniently located. It is right next to Golden Gate Park (DeYoung Art Museum, Music Concourse, and the Calif. Academy of Sciences, etc.), and not even two blocks away from the nearest Safeway grocery store. If you turn left as you exit the Nest, you will find that Geary Blvd and Clement St have a lot of things to do, and we walked to the Sutro Heights Park, and found that the Honey B Tea House is halfway there and a great place to stop for a hot or cold drink and a snack! Transportation is readily available to take you to different parts of the city, and is just a few blocks away and within walking distance from the Nest. We highly recommend the Duck's Nest to everyone! Thank you so much!
We had a wonderful stay at the Duck's Nest this past January. My husband, toddler, mother and brother and I were all in town for my cousin's wedding. We were so comfortable in this home. Everything was taken care of - towels, bathrobes, baby gate, pack n play, directions for everything, maps, suggestions for places to eat and visit (which were so helpful). The owner was available by phone for any questions that came up. He was very accommodating when we arrived an hour early and had to leave a couple hours after check out time. With a playground down the street and lots of cool things to see and do our son was in heaven. I really felt like we were at home here and that's saying a lot with a small child. We will be back!
